Method & boundaries

A deterministic lens, not a crystal ball

Every profile we produce comes from fixed classical rules applied to your birth data or chosen time. There is no intuition, no guessing, and no claim about what "will happen." The output is a structured mirror you can use for reflection and planning.

About the practice

Celestial Atlas is maintained by Muyun (牧云), a Chinese-speaking practitioner who has spent years studying classical Chinese metaphysics — BaZi (Four Pillars), Qi Men Dun Jia, and the Five Elements — alongside a career spent around data and systems. That dual background shapes this site: charts are treated as computation, interpretations stay within what the classical rules actually say, and nothing is dressed up as mysticism that isn’t in the method.

The promise is deliberately modest: same input, same output, no fear-based readings, no "cures," and no pressure to buy anything. If that sounds like your kind of conversation, the free tools are the best place to start.

Why a "method" instead of a reading

Classical East Asian metaphysics is, at its core, a computational system. Given a birth date and hour, a set of rules produces a Four Pillars chart; given a question and a moment, another set of rules produces a Qi Men board. We treat these rules the way an engineer treats a formula: same input, same output, fully reproducible. We then translate the chart into plain language. We do not add private interpretations, and we do not invent verdicts about your life.

A lens, not a verdict A chart describes tendencies and rhythms. It does not decide what you should do, and it does not predict outcomes. You remain the author of your choices.

The BaZi (Four Pillars) method

The method reads your birth year, month, day and hour and maps each onto a Stem–Branch pair (Ganzhi). These four pairs are the Four Pillars. The day pillar's Heavenly Stem is your Day Master — the core self the method uses as a reference point. From the pillars, the method derives the relative strength of the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) and the Ten Gods — relationships between the Day Master and the other stems and branches, named metaphorically (e.g. "Officer", "Wealth", "Resource").

We then layer in the Da Yun (major luck phases): ten-year periods derived from the pillar sequence, each carrying its own element tone. We present these phases as a rhythm — when a given element is amplified or softened — not as a verdict that something "will happen" in that decade. The profile is a lens for reflection: notice the tone, plan accordingly, and keep your own judgment in charge.

The Qi Men Dun Jia method

We use the Shi-jia (time-based) rotating board with the Chai-bu (split-filling) method for determining the Ju. Given a chosen moment, the method first assigns Yin Dun or Yang Dun based on the solar terms, then selects one of 1,080 Ju configurations. From that Ju, it lays four layers onto a 3×3 palace grid (nine palaces, plus the center): the Heaven plate, the Human plate, the Earth plate, and the Divine plate. The method reads the Zhi Fu (Chief Symbol) and Zhi Shi (Chief Door) for that Ju, and notes which doors, stars, and spirits sit in which palaces.

The output is a planning aid: which windows and directions the method reads as more supportive for initiation, partnership, or rest — and which read as quieter. We present this as a checklist for scheduling, not as a guarantee of outcome. You keep the call; the board is a mirror of timing, not a commander.

The boundaries — what we do, and do not, do

We do

Translate classical rules into readable profiles

Apply fixed BaZi and Qi Men rules to your input and explain the chart, elements, and windows in plain language.

We do not

Do fortune-telling or issue outcome verdicts

No fortune-telling, no "this will definitely happen," no fate claims. The profile is for reflection and planning only.

We ask

The minimum data needed to deliver

Birth date, time, place, and an email for delivery. We do not collect data you do not use, and we do not sell your data.

We remind

This is not professional advice

Nothing here replaces medical, financial, legal, or mental-health counsel. A chart is a mirror for your own judgment.

We do not

Promise results, cures, or wealth

We never claim a profile will make you healthier, richer, or luckier. It is a tool for reflection and entertainment.

We ask

To cancel — anytime

Single and bundle purchases are one-time. Team plans can be cancelled anytime, with a prorated refund for the unused portion.

Frequently asked questions

Is this fortune-telling?

No. We apply fixed classical rules to your birth or time data and explain the resulting chart in plain language. We do not divine, channel, or claim to know your future. We frame the output as a lens for reflection and planning — and as entertainment, in the same spirit as Western horoscopes.

What data do you keep?

Only what is needed to deliver your profile: your email, and the birth date / time / place you provide. We also log your IP address for basic abuse-prevention. We do not sell it, do not share it with advertisers, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.

Can I cancel?

The online readings are free — there is nothing to cancel and no card is ever requested. The written consultation is a one-time purchase: you can ask for a full refund any time before the work begins, and once your reading has been sent the sale is final. Practitioner report packs are one-time purchases as well — refundable within 14 days, provided no credits have been used. There are no subscriptions and no auto-renewals anywhere on this site.

Is this professional advice?

No. Nothing on this site replaces medical, financial, legal, psychological, or other licensed professional counsel. If you are making a serious decision in any of those domains, please consult a qualified professional. A chart is a mirror, not a doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor.

Is this for minors?

No. This site and its services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly provide readings or collect data from anyone under 18.

What if I am going through a hard time?

A chart reflection is not a substitute for care, and never a crisis service. If you feel overwhelmed, hopeless, or unable to cope, please reach out to a qualified professional or a crisis line — in the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline); in the UK, call 116 123 (Samaritans); elsewhere, contact your local emergency services or crisis hotline. You deserve real support.

Why do you call it "reflection & entertainment"?

Because that is what it honestly is. Classical systems can be a structured way to reflect on rhythm and temperament, the way Western astrology is used for self-awareness. We keep the method transparent and reproducible, and we avoid the language of prediction. This framing is also what keeps the service fair, legal, and honest to you.

Bottom line We give you a clear, deterministic mirror. You decide what to do with it.
