In BaZi, every stem in your chart is read as a relationship to your Day Master. The Five Elements’ producing and controlling cycles, split by polarity, generate exactly ten such relationships — the Ten Gods (十神). Despite the name, they are not deities: they are roles life tends to arrive in.
Start from your Day Master — the stem of your day pillar. Every other stem stands in exactly one of five relationships to it (same, produced by it, controlled by it, controlling it, producing it). Each relationship then splits in two by polarity, which is how ten roles emerge from five cycles. The same stem can therefore be a different god in two different charts: the meaning lives in the relationship, not the character.
A free chart labels each stem and hidden stem with its god. That label is a pointer, not a grade — each guide below explains what the classical texts actually say.
A peer walking the same road
A rival with the same appetite
Talent at its most unhurried
Brilliance with an edge
Windfall, trade, and moving money
Earned, kept, and tended
Pressure as a forge
Structure you can live inside
Unconventional learning
The nourishment of lineage
