Rooster (鸡): precision at sundown

How the method fixes this sign

The Rooster belongs to the branch You (酉), corresponding to years such as 1993, 2005, 2017 and 2029 — with the switch at lichun in early February. You marks the hours of 5pm–7pm, sundown, and is Metal in its pure Yin phase: refined, exact, cutting cleanly.

The classical image

The rooster crows on time, every day, whether or not anyone praises it. Classical commentary on You emphasizes the pure-metal quality: the jewel and the blade, discernment and candor, ornament and edge in one animal. The barnyard image adds the social layer — the rooster is a creature of the household, loud where it belongs.

Temperament the lens is pointing at

• Organization as instinct: lists, order, things where they should be.
• Candor — errors named plainly, including one’s own.
• High standards applied to craft, dress, food and timekeeping alike.
• Punctuality taken as a form of respect.

Growth edges the texts hint at

• Bluntness that lands as judgment, especially uninvited.
• Perfectionism that quietly starves good-enough work.
• Crowing for the yard: measuring worth by visible display.

The sign in a full chart

You hides only Xin (辛) Metal — the purest single-element branch in the cycle, which is why Rooster imagery tends to be sharp and unambiguous. Classical readers watch the You–Mao (Rabbit) axis, the direct clash of refined versus yielding. Where the Rooster sits in your chart tells you which part of life keeps the standards.

Reflection prompts

• Which of your corrections this week was wanted — and which were delivered on schedule anyway?
• Where has "the right way" quietly become "only my way"?
• What would praising someone properly today cost you — and what might it buy?
